Training and Workshops in South Cheshire

I have facilitated reflective supervision sessions for staff members of 2 organisations. I have also delivered training in the following areas:

  • Bereavement and loss
  • Family coping styles - related to loss
  • Anxiety and stress management
  • Depression and thinking patterns
  • Self-esteem, assertiveness and anger management
  • Resilience and team building
  • Coping with life-limiting illness
  • Carer support

As a Bereavement specialist, I have delivered a variety of different workshops, of varying lengths, related to Loss, Grief and Bereavement. During the Spring, Summer and early Autumn I run equine therapy workshops with colleagues. These are designed to promote wellbeing, personal awareness and emotional regulation. Time with horses can help us reflect on our relationships, what’s blocking us and what makes us flourish.

Please see the Flyer about Equine Therapy here.

What I Can Offer

I am trained in Group Analysis and understand how group dynamics impact on a learning or training group.

As a qualified counsellor and Social Worker, I bring my work experience and skills into the training setting.

I am used to tailoring my sessions to the requirements of the agency. Please see my sample programmes, by clicking here.

I provide my own training packs which include learning objectives, key theoretical models, case studies used for practice, all handouts, helpful hints and references. I use a variety of teaching methods, including small group work, case studies taken from clinical examples, individual reflective exercises, video clips and powerpoint slides, role-play to demonstrate listening skills and creative examples of therapeutic work.

My Style

I use a mixture of presentational styles. I teach using key theoretical models and then use real examples from my clinical counselling work to make links between theory and practice.

As a group facilitator, I encourage members to participate and work with the skills and knowledge in the training group, adapting the course content accordingly. As a trainer, I wish to enhance and consolidate the information and skills that already exist in the group, facilitating learning.

I provide evaluation sheets to enable me to ensure we have met the learning objectives identified at the beginning of the session.

Geographical Base - South CheshirE

I can hire training facilities close to where I live in South Cheshire, near Crewe and Nantwich. I am able to travel, easily accessing the North West of England.

I can also travel to other parts of the UK. Travelling time and overnight stops, may have an impact on my fee, which can be negotiated.

NEXT STEPS

I offer bespoke sessions - these could be half a day, full day or two days programme. Please refer to my Contact page for details of my fees. I am happy to discuss with you how I may adapt the content in order to meet your organisation’s training needs and outcomes.

Please contact me to discuss your requirements and I will produce a draft programme with my suggested approach.

I can work with small numbers (5) or a maximum of 15 in each session. I can repeat sessions for larger staff groups.

I prefer a space large enough to enable the group to split into small groups for some exercises. I require a projector for PowerPoint slides and video clips and a flip chart or wall I can place flipchart paper on to summarise and clarify points during the sessions.

I type up sessions and summarise the content of discussions (anonymising quotes etc.) as part of the package. This will include reference to my ground rules and ‘health and safety’ caveat. As the subject matter is sensitive, I ask participants to take personal responsibility for their readiness for this type of training.

How to Contact Me

I can be contacted initially by email or telephone. I can then meet with you to discuss your needs and I will work on the draft programme to present to you and tweak to ensure that it meets your organisation’s requirements and you remain happy with the content. It is also helpful for me to know a little about the proposed audience; for example, will there be teams of people who know each other, strangers, groups of different professionals, carers or volunteers or counsellors/therapists or a mixture of all the above.

I work from two locations in South Cheshire and with a therapy herd in North Cheshire, The equine sessions are currently at the Spirit of The Herd, nr.Frodsham, Delamere Forest. Please see my Terms of Business Contract by clicking here.
